ADAC Eifel Rallye Festival (July 24.-26. 2025)
Press release 04
ADAC Eifel Rallye Festival: Early entry deadline is on February 28th, 2025
- Thursday in Daun: The day for connoisseurs.
- In Rome, you absolutely need a prayer book.
- Kim Boisen: Danish rally champion in Daun.
This year too, the entry list for the ADAC Eifel Rallye Festival (July 24th to 26th, 2025) has to be closed early. “Less than three weeks after the opening of the registration portal, we already have over two hundred entries, but we can only accommodate around one hundred one hundred and sixty rally cars in the centre of Daun. For this reason, we are definitively closing the entry list on February 28th, 2025,” explains Reinhard Klein (Slowly Sideways) with a smile but also a sad eye. “The huge interest from the international friends of historic rallying is inspiring. The variety and quality of the registered vehicles are impressive. We are closing the entry portal to keep the number of rejections down”.
Thursday in Daun: The day for connoisseurs
The newly designed Festival programme offers fans one highlight after another on the Thursday. Otmar Anschütz, head of organisation and chairman of the organising club MSC Daun, explains: “A technical inspection of the cars which is open to the general public will begin at 2:30 pm in the Rally Mile. The rally cars will then be presented on the starting ramp. These automotive treasures can also be viewed in and around Daun city centre in the morning.” The familiar – and highly popular – autograph session will follow at 6:30 pm, and the traditional Welcome Evening will begin at 8:30 pm. Anschütz says: “As always, we will be introducing our celebrity teams here, and cult filmmaker, Helmut Deimel, will be accompanying the Welcome Evening – held in the open-air cinema – with his own moving images selected from the history of rallying.”
Advance ticket and programme sales from the RallyWebShop will start on April 1st, 2025.
In Rome, you absolutely need a prayer book.
The Saturday leg of this year's Festival starts in Rome. But don't panic ! The teams and their cars don't have to go to Italy for this, just taking the route towards Birresborn is enough. However, as with a visit to the Vatican, a ‘prayer book’ is highly recommended. The third Festival day will open with two sharp but extremely demanding demonstration stages in the forests near Gerolstein where rally history has already been written. The entrants of the 1972 Olympia-Rally fought for every second on these uphill and downhill sections as did, later on, the crews of the early Deutschland-Rally. The winding road requires precise notes and perfect teamwork in the cockpit. Two-time German rally champion Ruben Zeltner said of a comparable route: “Here the co-driver has to read for his life.”
[Just in case the last paragraph puzzled you, Rom (Eifel) is a hamlet in the Vulkaneifel not far from Birresborn and has about nineteen residents, none of which is the Pope.]
Kim Boisen: Danish rally champion in Daun
For the first time, Kim Boisen, a Danish rally champion, is entering the Eifel Rallye Festival. The fast Dane secured his title in the ADAC Rally Masters in 2012 with a convincing six consecutive wins in his class plus two overall wins. Boisen explained at the time: “I was already Danish champion in my class because there was no overall title within it. That's why the Masters title is so important to me, because it's the first time I've been the overall winner of a championship.” Together with his daughter Emilie, he also secured the Danish national title for historic rallying in 2023. “I've been to Daun as a spectator with friends and was thrilled – where else can you see so many historic rally cars driving in one place? I knew right away that I wanted to be actively involved myself.” Thus Boisen explains his decision to drive in Daun this year. Fans can look forward to the Dane's drift demonstrations in his newly built BMW M3 that conforms to FIA Appendix K.
