ADAC Eifel Rallye Festival 2020 – We will not celebrate the anniversary festival until 2021

"For a long time we've been hoping to avoid this, but now it's necessary to cancel the 2020 Festival," explains organisation manager Otmar Anschütz from the organising club, the MSC Daun, in a statement made today. "The restrictions imposed by the Corona pandemic make it impossible to hold the Festival at the end of July without danger to everyone involved. In addition, it is not foreseeable whether our international participants and guests would even be able to come to us at all. The cancellation hits us hard but, in this situation, it is the right decision".
The tenth edition of the Eifel Rallye Festival was to have taken place in the Volcanic Eifel around the city of Daun from 23 - 25 July 2020. But the world's largest rolling rally museum will now not reopen its doors again until 2021. "A postponement to autumn is not an option, as Daun provides us with a lot of its infrastructure and this is only possible during the holidays. Furthermore, we are a purely outdoor event, which depends on good summer weather for a successful Festival".
Anschütz thanked the numerous participants who had already submitted their entries, the many helpers from near and far who had offered their support and, last but not least, the regional rescue services, the fire brigades, the communities and the numerous supporters and sponsors who for years have combined to make the Festival possible.

Anschütz promises: "We have set ourselves so many goals for the tenth anniversary. Now we have one year longer to work on the preparations and thus, I am sure, will celebrate a truly great tenth edition together in July 2021!’
