Gestern: Hannu Mikkola/Jim Porter, Rallye Monte Carlo 1969
Gut 200 Teams starteten zur Rallye Monte Carlo 1969, dem ersten Lauf zur Internationalen Markenmeisterschaft. Eine Weltmeisterschaft für den Rallyesport war zu der Zeit noch nicht erfunden. Darunter waren natürlich die Werksteams von Alpine, Lancia, Saab, BMW, Porsche und Ford. Hannu Mikkola fuhr den neuesten Ford Escort Twin Cam mit dem Lotus-Motor und konnte sogar auf WP zwei in Führung gehen, allerdings nicht ganz das Tempo von Waldegards Porsche 911 halten. Auf WP 13 schied er aber durch einen Unfall aus.

Yesterday: Hannu Mikkola/Jim Porter, Rallye Monte Carlo 1969
A good 200 teams lined up for the 1969 Monte Carlo Rally, the first round of the International Manufacturers' Championship. A world championship for rallying had not yet been invented at that time. Among them were, of course, the works teams from Alpine, Lancia, Saab, BMW, Porsche and Ford. Hannu Mikkola drove the latest Ford Escort Twin Cam with the Lotus engine and even took the lead on stage two, but was unable to keep up with the pace of Waldegard's Porsche 911. However, he crashed out on stage 13.

Josef possède cette Ford Escort depuis 2024 et la conduit lors d'événements spectaculaires, mais aussi dans des rallyes historiques en Espagne et au Portugal.

Plus de 200 équipes ont pris le départ du Rallye de Monte-Carlo 1969, la première manche du Championnat international des constructeurs. À l'époque, le championnat du monde des rallyes n'existait pas encore. Parmi les participants figuraient bien sûr les équipes d'usine d'Alpine, Lancia, Saab, BMW, Porsche et Ford. Hannu Mikkola pilotait la toute dernière Ford Escort Twin Cam équipée d'un moteur Lotus et avait même réussi à prendre la tête dans la deuxième spéciale, sans toutefois parvenir à suivre le rythme de la Porsche 911 de Waldegard. Mais il a dû abandonner dans la 13e spéciale à la suite d'un accident.
