Since there is no sportive competition in the Eifel Rallye Festival, the winners of the demonstration are decided by a jury of experts - not an easy task considering the stunning entry of this year's event.
The ADAC Eifel Rallye Festival held from July 21-23, 2016 was an event that not only celebrated the history of rallying, it also made history itself. With more than sixty Group B and Group S cars lining up in the Rally Mile in Daun, the demonstration event saw the biggest collection of those supercars ever collected in one place.
One of several unique characteristics of the Eifel Rallye Festival is the fact that there is no sporting contest whatsoever. Out on the demonstration stages around Daun, it is not about speed or regularity - but still there is a Prize Giving during the Rally Party on Sunday night. How does that come about? At first, the spectators were allowed to vote for their winners.
For the ADAC Eifel Rallye Festival taking place next weekend, a total of 64 Group B and Group S cars will make their way to the beautiful Vulkaneifel region in the very west of Germany setting an all-time record. The number of cars coming to Daun from July 21-23 even tops the best WRC rounds of the mid-80s. In the heyday of Group B rallying, that record was set by the 1000 Lakes Rally of 1984 where 63 Group B cars entered.
Audi Quattro, Opel Manta, Lancia 037, MG Metro, Peugeot 205 T16, Ford RS200 - miniature versions of all these Group B supercars are shown side by side on the "Group B Memorial Plaque", a one-off souvenir made by Bernd's Rally Miniatures exclusively for the Eifel Rallye Festival. The plaque will be officially revealed during the Welcome Evening and there it will also be signed by all VIP drivers taking part in the event.
